52 Weeks to Family Preparedness for Two
Week 16

Food Storage and Preparedness Challenge Of The Week:

Food Storage Purchase 30 lbs. wheat or flour

Extra Item Purchase 10-20 boxes of Macaroni and Cheese

Flu Kit Choose a suitable container for your flu kit. A plastic container w/lid, like a tote bin, or a 5 gallon bucket, or sturdy box w/lid. You will need a couple of these. Start to gather all the supplies you already have and place them in the container.


Family Preparation If you have a wood burning fireplace, have it checked out and cleaned. You may also wish to have your heater checked and replace the filter. Do your spring furnace cleaning.

Spiritual Preparedness Read 1 Nephi 3:5-7. Ponder on how this relates to any part of your life and what you need to change. Set a plan to change it.






PANCAKE AND WAFFLE MIX

PANCAKES:

Mix amounts of (1) flour, (2) water, (3) oil, and (4) eggs in the amounts for the following yields:
6 Pancakes 12 Pancakes 20 Pancakes

(1) 1 Cup 2 Cups 3 Cups
(2) 3/4 Cup 1 ½ Cups 2 1/4 Cups
(3) 2 Tbsp. 1/4 Cup 6 Tbsp.
(4) 1 2 3

Mix ingredients together until dry ingredients are moistened (batter will be lumpy). Bake on hot griddle or lightly greased skillet.
VARIATIONS:
APPLE PANCAKES

Stir in ½ cup finely chopped apples to prepared pancake batter. Sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg to taste.

NUTTY PANCAKES
Sprinkle 2 Tbsp. broken nuts over pancakes before turning.

WAFFLES:
2 Cups pancake mix, above 1 egg
1/4 Cup oil 1 ½ Cup milk

Mix all ingredients together until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour batter onto center of hot waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer's instructions. For even baking of waffles, close lid quickly. Wait for signal light or until steam stops. Makes 6 waffles.
VARIATION:
ORANGE WAFFLES
Add 1 tablespoon grated orange peel to batter. Cook as above.
